Redcurrant (ribes) Redstart plant bush (organically grown)

Description: Redcurrants are one of the most prized soft fruit.
The fruit is traditionally used for making redcurrant jelly.
The plant is easy to grow in any sheltered spot and can tolerate heavier soils than most other fruit.
They are traditionally planted before the ground freezes in winter.
The plant establishes best at 1-2 year old, as older plants tend to take a few years to establish and produce fruit.
The plant on offer is a 1-2 year old well-rooted plant with 1-2 branches, which can be pruned or trained as required.
The plant is over 45cm tall (due to them being organically hard grown this can vary but the minimum is states).
The variety is Redstart, which is a late season cropper with medium size fruit.
It has good mildew resistance, which is a bonus for the organic gardener.
They are best netted over before the fruit is formed, as the birds will strip the bush in a few hours.
